Recognition is a point at which the character understands the situation he or she is facing in the whole novel. For recognition, it really depends on what the protagonist is going through and what comes in front of them as a struggle. In Treasure Island, Jim Hawkins faces difficulty when dealing with finding the treasure and not being able to get it fast enough. As well as when Jim has to fend off certain pirates at the Admiral Benbow realizing that he has encountered dangerous people and needs to get out of the situation as soon as possible and did so by running away with some treasure to save himself and his mother doing the right thing for his family. Another good example is when Jim overhears Long John Silver talking once he fell asleep in the apple barrel. This leads to Jim hearing that Long John would be causing trouble to an extent where his whole crew would be murdered. The situation at hand is that everyone is in danger at that moment and until death on the Hispaniola.
